Hi Bjorgvin ! What did you choose to take this picture ?
I was just following my step daughter in her U-15 pre-season match in Egilsstadir (east-cost of Iceland) and just used my old samsung phone, the sun was low and there was no snow only frost.
What is your relation with the football ?
I’m Uefa A licence coach and have coached over 20 years youth and seniors.
Iceland has currently a good football team and provides good performance, how Iceland did it football revolution ?
Yes, Iceland has done well in football, the men´s team went to the Euro and world cup, the women´s team has also been in Euro. As every one knows, we are only 350000. We have always good players, but when the Icelandic football federation started to educate the coaches you could see the improvements every were. Icelandic athletes are driven, ambitious, enthusiastic and hardworking in general, same with the coaches but still so few of them coaching abroad. Could it be that clubs are choosing names over talent ?
Do you think iceland has a trully culture football ?
I think we are truly culture football nation, we watch a lot of football and it is a big part of life in Iceland.
What are the others famous sport in Iceland ?
The three biggest sports in Iceland are football, basketball and handball.
We used to say that in Iceland, everybody know everybody. Is it true ?
I can´t say I know everybody but I know a lot of people, But there are small towns and you know how every one is. In Iceland we play football all year long. The wether has to be really bad so we skip trainings or games. The kids love playing and training and bad wether will not stop them. In Iceland you will see football pitches every were.
Thanks Bjorgvin Karl !
